Welcome to Unian – Union Relationship. This Subscription Policy explains how subscriptions, free trials, payments, renewals, cancellations, and subscription access work within the Unian application.
1. Relationship-Based Subscription
A subscription is associated with a specific Union Relationship, not permanently with an individual user account.
Each Union Relationship has its own subscription lifecycle.
For example:
User A + User B → Union #001 → Subscription #001
If User A later creates or joins another Union, the subscription from Union #001 does not transfer to the new relationship.
2. Creating and Joining a Union
Users can create a Union or join an existing Union using a Union Code without purchasing a subscription.
A subscription is not required to:
- Create a Union.
- Join a Union.
- Complete weekly check-ins.
- Submit check-in answers.
3. Subscription Benefits
An active subscription unlocks subscription-protected relationship features for both partners in that Union.
This may include:
- Viewing relationship scores.
- Viewing weekly relationship scores.
- Accessing relationship insights and analysis.
- Other subscription-protected features introduced by Unian.
The subscription benefit is attached to the Union Relationship and is not limited to the user who purchased it.
4. Free Trial
Some subscription plans may include free trial days.
Where applicable, the trial period will be clearly displayed before purchase.
Free trial eligibility may be limited based on a user's previous use of promotional trial benefits. Purchasing or renewing a subscription does not necessarily provide a new free trial.
5. Subscription Duration
Each plan has a defined subscription duration and price.
The applicable:
- Plan
- Duration
- Price
- Trial period, if applicable
will be displayed before completing the purchase.
6. Payment
Subscription payments are processed through the supported payment provider.
A subscription becomes active only after the payment has been successfully confirmed by Unian's backend/payment provider.
The application interface or payment screen alone does not determine final subscription status.
7. Auto-Renewal
If auto-renewal is enabled, the subscription will automatically renew at the end of the current billing period, subject to successful payment.
A successful renewal continues the existing subscription rather than creating a duplicate subscription for the same Union.
8. Cancellation
Users may cancel their recurring subscription according to the available cancellation options.
Unless otherwise required by applicable law, cancellation will normally take effect at the end of the current paid billing period.
For example:
Subscription paid until September 30 → cancellation requested September 15 → access continues until September 30.
After the subscription period ends, subscription-protected features become unavailable unless a new subscription is purchased for that Union.
9. Payment Failure
If a recurring payment fails, Unian may receive payment status updates from the payment provider and update the subscription accordingly.
If the subscription eventually becomes inactive or expires:
- Subscription-protected features will be locked.
- The Union Relationship may remain available.
- Users may continue submitting check-ins where supported.
- A new subscription may restore access to subscription-protected features.
10. Relationship Termination
A subscription is directly connected to its Union Relationship.
If either partner exits or terminates the Union:
- The Union Relationship is terminated.
- The subscription remains associated with that Union.
- The subscription will not transfer to another Union.
- Future recurring renewal will be cancelled.
- Subscription access for the terminated relationship will end according to the applicable relationship and subscription status.
11. New Union Relationship
If a user leaves a Union and creates or joins another Union, the previous subscription does not automatically transfer.
For example:
Old:
A + B → Union #001 → Subscription #001
New:
A + C → Union #002 → New subscription required
A separate subscription must be purchased for the new Union if subscription-protected features are required.
12. Multiple Relationships
A user may have subscription history associated with different Union Relationships.
Each relationship and its subscription are managed independently.
For example:
- Union #001 → A + B → Subscription #001
- Union #002 → A + C → Subscription #002
- Union #003 → A + D → Subscription #003
A subscription for one Union does not provide subscription access to another Union.
13. Duplicate Subscriptions
Only one active subscription may exist for a Union Relationship at a time.
If a Union already has an active subscription, another active subscription should not be created for the same Union.
14. Subscription Expiration
When a subscription expires:
- Access to subscription-protected relationship scores is locked.
- The Union Relationship itself does not necessarily need to be deleted.
- Previously submitted check-ins may remain stored.
- Purchasing a new subscription for the same active Union may restore subscription-protected access.
15. Subscription Status
Unian maintains subscription status separately from Union Relationship status.
Subscription statuses may include:
- ACTIVE
- CANCEL_AT_PERIOD_END
- EXPIRED
- CANCELLED
The Union Relationship may have its own status independently.
16. Payment Provider and Backend Status
Payment providers such as Stripe are responsible for processing payments and recurring billing.
Payment provider webhook events are used by the Unian backend to update subscription status.
The Unian backend is the final authority for determining whether a Union is currently entitled to subscription-protected features.
17. Refunds
Refund eligibility is subject to Unian's applicable refund rules and the policies of the payment provider or app store through which the purchase was made.
Where applicable, refunds may affect the subscription's access and entitlement period.
18. Changes to Subscription Plans
Unian may introduce, modify, or discontinue subscription plans, pricing, trial periods, or features.
Any applicable changes will be communicated or displayed before they affect a new purchase or renewal, subject to applicable law.
